Hello! My name is Shehab Abdel-Salam. I’m a Senior Software Engineer with 5+ years of experience in building new products and tackling challenging business problems. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working on a variety of projects with unique challenges and learning opportunities, honing not only my technical skills but also my product thinking and leadership skills. I also contribute to open-source projects occasionally and enjoy engaging socially with the tech community.

I currently work at Faculty AI as a backend engineer where I’m part of the team building a Decision Intelligence product called Frontier 🚀. Previously, I worked at Dell Technologies for around 2 years, initially working as a backend engineer in the Live Optics product development team, and then as a full-stack engineer in the Data Office team.

During my grad studies, I had the privilege of teaching programming courses and supporting over 300 undergraduate students, as well as mentoring aspiring junior engineers in my previous role at Dell. I hold a M.Sc. degree in Computer Science and a B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from The American University in Cairo.

Prior to my professional career, I was an experienced C/C++ programmer and participated casually in problem-solving competitions such as Google Code Jam, Facebook Hacker Cup, Codeforces Contests, and Weekly LeetCode Contests.

Some of the papers I’ve worked on during my graduate studies:

  1. Abdel-Salam, Shehab, and Ahmed Rafea. “Performance Study on Extractive Text Summarization Using BERT Models.”
  2. Study on E-CVRPTW Problem Using Reinforcement Learning - 2020
  3. Load Balancing Algorithms in Distributed File Systems - 2019
